The government is suggesting the exemption to continue for those whose yearly income is 600,000 PKR or below. However, the tax has been proposed to increase up to 2,500 PKR for people who earn between 600,000 and1,200,000 PKR in a year; whereas salaried individuals earning anywhere between Rs1.2 and Rs2.2 million annually would be required to pay Rs15, 000 monthly as tax.
The suggested monthly tax is 35,834 PKR for those who earn between 2,200,000 and3,2000,000 PKR in a year. Salaried individuals making between Rs3.2million and uptoRs4.1 million annually are expected to bear a monthly tax of more than RS58k; this could be done by adding an extra category of earners with that level of remuneration and on whom such amount of money would be charged every month as tax.
A total charge of 35% should also be levied on all incomes exceeding ₨14 million per annum
